"If you know you did it..."
"What am I without contests?"
"To be #1, is that important? No, it's not important...I just love to skate."
"...it somehow robs them of the joy of doing what they did..."
"Who are you? What is your distinct contribution...whether it gets you anything or not..."
"If you know you did it..."
"Success is an illusive thing; look within"--Rodney Mullen

Slim the Hammer Man Farman
Footage of Slim in his 70's (he's currently 75 years "old") playing with a pair of 17 pound hammers. At 75, he's still doing leverage lifts no other person on earth can match or come remotely close to.
Slim's official recognized world record leverage lift is 56 pounds x 31" handles for a total of 1736 inch pounds of pressure on the hands and wrists. His personal record done later on in practice was over 2150 inch pounds. What Slim has achieved is as close to a real-life "Superman" as you will get in this life. When you consider that he broke the bones in his hands over 20 times to set his records, it's even more insane. As he likes to say, "If you don't have the will, the desire, the drive...it's not gonna happen."
When you're pushing yourself to the point of breaking bones to achieve something, it brings the question of "how bad do you want it" into a whole new perspective. Think about that: despite pushing to the point of breaking bones numerous times, Slim never quit; he never gave up.
There is, and will ever be, only one Hammer Man.
Pat "The Human Vise" Povilaitis
With a neck like a bull and hands like a vise that destroy steel like no one else can, Pat Povilaitis is easily one of the greatest strongmen of all time. It will be hard to argue that he will be known in history as the world's greatest legitimate short steel/horseshoe bender. Pat's accomplishments include being the first man in the world to bend a 3/8 x 7" cold rolled steel bar into a U, as well as being the first man to bend a 1/2 x 1 and 1/8" Diamond Draft Number 8 horseshoe to around 90 degrees...and he has progressed well beyond these past achievements. It's been an honor to be mentored and encouraged by someone who has achieved the things he has. It will be cool to see what the human body can continue to accomplish as Pat progressively pushes the boundaries of what is possible in the world of steel bending.

Natas Kaupas--Street Skating Legend
Always cool to watch someone do what they do just for the pure joy of doing it. Natas was one of the original guys to bring street skating to the forefront.
"Oh, how's it going, hi dad"...classic.
Yes, his name backwards does spell "Satan", but it is pure coincidence and has no meaning behind it. The name 'Natas' is the male version of the Lithuanian name 'Natalia'---end of story. Rather than focus on what negative, ignorant drama queens have for the past 30 years, here's what his name should be synonymous with:
In his prime, King of the Ollie (trash cans and picnic tables)
Skating curbs and benches before it was popular
Santa Monica Airlines
Santa Cruz
Two words: Fire Hydrant
Board Sliding Rails and Dumpsters
50-50 at the Federal Building
Along with the Gonz, introduced Mullen's kickflip to street skating
First ever Pro Model Skateboard Shoe with Etnies
Amazing art work
World Industries and 101
Vita Shoes
Quick Silver
Element
